Microsoft Outlook - Mailbox Limits for Students

There are three mailbox size limits for student mailboxes in the Pepperdine e-mail system. The warning limit (150mb), the send limit (200mb), and the receive limit (250mb).

Please keep the size of your Outlook mailbox as low as possible and remove information from it as soon as you receive a warning message. To check the size of your Outlook mailbox at any time, follow the steps at check mailbox size.

See mailbox maintenance for ways to reduce the size of your mailbox.

WARNING LIMIT (150MB)

You will reach this WARNING POINT when your Outlook mailbox contains more than 150mb of information. This information consists of mail messages, calendar information (such as meetings and appointments), tasks, contact information, and journal entries. A nightly process determines which mailboxes have reached the warning point and sends a warning mail message to each mailbox owner. Therefore if your mailbox reaches the warning limit during the day (and remains at or above the limit when you quit for the day), you will not receive a warning mail message until the next morning.

You will receive a warning message every day until you reduce the size of your mailbox below 150mb.  When you receive the warning message, you should immediately take steps to reduce the size of your mailbox.

SEND LIMIT (200MB)

You will reach the SEND LIMIT when your Outlook mailbox contains 200mb of information. When your mailbox grows to this size (200mb), you will no longer be able to send mail messages. You will be able to compose messages and save them in your mailbox (DRAFTS folder), but not send them.

You will receive a warning message every day until you reduce the size of your mailbox below 150mb (the warning limit).  At this send limit stage, an additional line will appear in the warning message indicating your inability to send messages.  When you receive this warning message, you must immediately take steps to reduce the size of your mailbox; otherwise you will not be able to send messages.

RECEIVE LIMIT (250MB)

You will reach the RECEIVE LIMIT when your Outlook mailbox contains 250mb of information. When your mailbox grows to this size (250mb), you will no longer be able to receive mail messages from anyone. Messages sent to you by other people will be returned to them with an "undeliverable" subject.

You will receive a warning message every day until you reduce the size of your mailbox below 150mb (the warning limit). At this receive limit stage, an additional line will appear in the warning message indicating your inability to receive messages. When you receive this warning message, you must immediately take steps to reduce the size of your mailbox; otherwise you will not be able to send or receive messages.
