Identification Cards

Pepperdine Identification Cards

All Pepperdine University students, faculty, and staff are issued an identification (ID) card when their association with Pepperdine begins. Everyone must carry their Pepperdine ID card at all times. ID cards for students are issued for a 7-year period. ID cards for faculty and staff become void upon termination of employment. All void ID cards should be returned to the University.

Acquisition and Replacement

Students receive ID cards at New Student Orientation (NSO). Faculty and staff ID cards are issued by the Center for Human Resources at time of hire. The first ID card is free. Should your card become damaged, you may return it to One Stop (students) or the Center for Human Resources (faculty and staff); and get a new card free of charge. If your card is lost or stolen, there is a $15.00 fee for the replacement card, payable at the Malibu campus Cashier Office.

Adding Money to an ID Card (Waves Cash Program)

There are three (3) types of funds that may be added to Pepperdine ID cards for use in a debit card fashion. For every dollar you add, you get one point on your ID card.  Points from one transaction may not be spread across multiple ID cards. Waves Cash points (regular, plus, and global) do not expire.

  • Waves Cash Plus – increments of $230, which reward you with a bonus amount of points, that may be used for tax-free purchase of food at any food establishment on Pepperdine’s Malibu campus. Example: If you add $230, you get 250 points. See the University Cashier, University Dining Services, or One-Stop for more details.
  • Waves Cash Global – any amount of money that may be used for tax-free purchase of food at any food establishment on Pepperdine’s Malibu campus, photocopies at copiers equipped with a card swipe unit, or printing in Pepperdine computer labs where print stations exist with a card swipe unit.

Requesting a Refund

Security of the ID Card

Pepperdine University offices verify the identity of students, faculty, and staff prior to issuing an ID card.  In addition, each ID card contains the picture of the card owner and a Campuswide Identification (CWID) number, both of which tie the use of the card to you alone.
