Faculty/Staff Network/E-mail Accounts: Administration and Costs

The format of a faculty/staff network ID is the first letter of the first name followed by the first seven (7) letters of the last name, e.g., jdoe.  Where like names would cause duplicate IDs, middle initials and/or numbers are added.

Faculty and staff e-mail address formats are "."  Where like names would cause duplicate addresses, middle initials and/or numbers are added.

Additional information is available:

Network/e-mail accounts already exist or may be requested by Pepperdine departments for:

  • classrooms (for scheduling purposes)
  • conference rooms (for scheduling purposes)
  • departmental accounts (ex: a general account for your department name to be monitored by you and used to communicate with your department as opposed to an individual person)
  • departmental student workers (generic IDs)
  • on-campus groups and organizations
  • temp positions (generic IDs)
  • other resources (e.g., a van whose use you want to be able to schedule)

Costs

There is a one-time setup charge to install or activate a network port, which is the ethernet outlet on the wall where we plug in your piece of networked computer equipment.

There is a monthly charge for network service in offices, classrooms, and labs; and for additional shared network disk space (typically for your S or U drive).

Length of Network/E-mail Account Use

Faculty and staff network/e-mail accounts are deleted upon separation of employment.  Information Technology is notified of employee separations by the Center for Human Resources.

Network/e-mail accounts for other than faculty and staff will be deleted when the using department notifies Information Technology.

E-mail for Retired Faculty

Network/e-mail accounts for retired faculty will be established at the discretion of the retired faculty member's academic division chair.
