WASC Reports

The 2008 Institutional Proposal

In the report, Pepperdine provided:

  • the response to the concerns that WASC raised during the last accreditation experience in 2000,
  • the context and outcomes for its accreditation review,
  • development of strategies for assessing and improving student and organizational learning,
  • a preliminary evaluation of itself to identify areas of improvement,
  • a preliminary evaluation of the effectiveness of its data gathering and analysis systems,
  • strategies for assessing and improving student and organizational learning in the educational effectiveness review,
  • an identification of the evidence to be collected and used and committees or groups to be involved for each of the stages of review.

The 2010 Capacity and Preparatory Review

For a copy of the report, please download here.
In this report, Pepperdine provided:
  • updated data portfolios on a variety of capacity measures regarding students, faculty, and staff.
  • an evaluation of key institutional resources, structures, and processes in light of the WASC standards to demonstrate that the institution operates at or above threshold levels acceptable for accreditation.
  • an analysis of the institution's infrastructure to support educational effectiveness, especially in regard to retention and graduation, the assessment of student learning, program review, organizational learning, and use of evidence.

The 2012 Educational Effectiveness Review

In this third stage of accreditation, the university will:

  • get faculty deeply involved in the design and implementation of the educational effectiveness report.
  • review institutional efforts to evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs, with special attention to the institution's program review process.
  • examine institutional practices for evaluating student learning, along with developing/sharing good practices for using educational results to improve the process of teaching and learning.
  • examine the alignment of institutional resources with activities designed to achieve the institution's educational objectives.
  • promote sustained engagement with educational effectiveness measurements and processes that Pepperdine determined earlier in the accreditation process.
